ROOT CANALS
Toothaches are a horrible thing! They can be caused by damaged tissues in the nerve (also called the pulp), the center of the tooth. The pulp is a collection of blood vessels that nourish the tooth.
What is Endodontic Treatment?
Endodontic treatment, also called root canal treatment removes the diseased pulp thoroughly, then cleans and seals the root canal system, thereby relieving the pain.
It is rare/uncommon for endodontic patients to experience complications after routine root canal treatment. If a problem does occur however, we are always available to help.
Restoring A Tooth That Has Had Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment along with the appropriate restoration, is a cost-effective way to treat infected or inflamed teeth. It is usually less expensive than extraction and placement of a bridge or implant. Following root canal treatment, we discuss which type of restoration would be best to protect the tooth. For back teeth, a crown is often recommended to help protect these teeth from the force of biting.
Saving your natural teeth (if possible) is almost always the best option. In most cases, endodontic treatment allows people to keep their natural teeth for a lifetime.
